After several months of keeping quiet about her romance with The Weeknd, Selena Gomez finally began to open up about her boyfriend and how she has managed to fit a relationship into her life.

The 24-year-old stopped by “On Air with Ryan Seacrest” on Friday where she spilled some details about her personal life. When asked why she decided to finally open up about her romance, Gomez told the host it came down to her life experiences.

“I think for me I have experienced so many different phases in my life because I’ve been doing this for so long I don’t think there is anything that I want to, not necessarily hide but I’m genuinely myself,” she explained.

Gomez stated that she has reached a point in her life in which happiness is her goal. “Hiding things...it’s too much pressure. I’m so happy with my music, my health is most important, my family is most important, but at the same time, I just want to be happy. So if that’s me just being myself, then I don’t really care,” she said.

“It’s really hard when I’d want to spend so much time hiding things... And I think everybody gets over everything eventually, that’s what I’ve learned. People get over it!” the star continued.

Gomez could be referring to the beginning of her and The Weeknd’s relationship when their exes Justin Bieber and Bella Hadid seemed bitter about their new romance.

Not long after photos began circulating online of Gomez and The Weeknd kissing, the “Bad Liar” singer’s ex began to trash talk the “Starboy” artist. Meanwhile, Hadid unfollowed Gomez on Instagram and eventually unfollowed her ex-boyfriend.

Reports began to surface that the model felt betrayed by Gomez, who began dating The Weeknd shortly after the two broke up in November 2016. Gomez and the model’s sister Gigi Hadid are both friends with Taylor Swift and Bella felt the actress should have given them a heads up about the relationship, according to TMZ.

However, sources close to Gomez told the media outlet that the songstress was never friends with the Hadid sisters and did not feel the need to announce her new romance.

Despite the initial drama, the singer now insists that she is in such a “good place” and her relationship is just one of the many perks of her life. “My music is so important and stuff I’ve been doing with my shows and producing and working with my mom again,” she told the hosts.

“It’s like…all that stuff has just been great, and [the relationship] is just [another] part of my life,” she explained.

Although The Weeknd has yet to speak about their relationship, the singer makes sure he shows his love for his girlfriend on Instagram and has shared a few photos of the singer since the romance has begun.

Although their romance is a little more than six months old, it looks like Gomez and The Weeknd are still enjoying their honeymoon phase and have no plans on hiding it.
