13 Reasons Why” executive producer Selena Gomez recently shared some information about the upcoming second season of the hit Netflix series.

While speaking with Elvis Duran on “The Morning Show” (via Entertainment Tonight), Gomez revealed that Season 2 is already in pre-production. “I went to the writers’ room the other day and I felt like I was watching a movie because I was freaking out on where they’re going with the season. It’s actually really encouraging and empowering and so we’re going to take a little inspiration from the first and bring it to the second,” she said.

Unfortunately, Gomez couldn’t give any more details regarding the upcoming episodes. For now, the singer is still trying to absorb the success of Season 1. In fact, she admitted that she didn’t expect “13 Reasons Why” would be so well-received by audiences. After all, they had the rights to the book and had been sitting on it for seven years before it was actually released on the popular streaming site.

But even though “13 Reasons Why” was a huge success, the series, which was adapted from Jay Asher’s book of the same title, also faced some backlash. “All the questions that came up and all the talk about it was all valid and I understand it. But I think with Season 2, we’re going to actually answer a lot of those questions and a lot of resolution with the characters are going to come,” she explained.

Meanwhile, “13 Reasons Why” Season 2 will also continue to tell Hannah Baker’s (Hannah Langford) story despite the fact that she already took her own life in Season 1. Co-showrunner Brian Yorkey stressed the fact that Hanah’s story is far from being over. “Hannah told her version of the events but there are at least 12 kids that have another version of those events that we haven’t really heard from yet, so I think there’s quite a bit more of Hannah’s story to tell,” he said.

But Yorkey stressed that this does not mean Hannah lied in any of the tapes she handed over to the other characters. “I think Season 2 will give us a look at a lot of things – and Hannah is even more complicated than we saw Season 1,” he said.
