Cora and Ambrose come up with a bold idea that can help her recover her missing memories in Season 1, episode 6 of “The Sinner.”

According to the synopsis for next week’s episode of the USA Network series, Cora (Jessica Biel) convinces Ambrose (Bill Pullman) to take his greatest risk yet in order to solve her murder case. While the episode logline doesn’t specify what that greatest risk is, the trailer for the episode reveals that Ambrose asks permission from his superiors to take Cora to Beverwyck Club, with the hope that her visit at the place will help her retrieve her lost memories.

“If I took her out to Beverwyck, she’ll tell us what happened,” Ambrose says in the promo clip.

Although Farmer (Joanna Adler) thinks that Ambrose’s petition is just a “weird game” he and Cora play, the dominatrix-loving investigator actually gets permission to take Cora to Beverwyck.

Upon her arrival in Beverwyck, Cora walks around the house and tries to retrieve her lost memories. Cora, however, is worried about the possibility of not remembering anything.

At the end of Season 1, episode 5, Farmer revealed to Ambrose that Cora’s DNA was found on the bloodstains on the blanket used to cover the corpse found in the woods. But because the DNA match doesn’t conclusively prove that Cora is responsible for the murder of the woman, Cora and Ambrose still have time to clear her name, at least on this particular murder case.

Elsewhere in the trailer, Mason (Christopher Abbott) is seen being interrogated by Farmer. Mason admits to the detective that he went to J.D.’s (Jacob Pitts) house earlier that day. When asks if he was armed when he made the visit, Mason doesn’t immediately reply. The video, however, cuts to a shot in which Mason is seen getting rid of his gun. Did Mason kill someone?

Mason’s father was brutally ambushed by J.D. last episode, so it wouldn’t be that surprising if Mason, in retaliation, decides to take J.D.’s life.

“The Sinner” Season 1, episode 6 airs on Wednesday, Sept. 6 at 10 p.m. EDT on USA Network. Watch the trailer for the episode below:
