For the past two seasons it's been known that Jenny (Lyndie Greenwood) and Abbie's (Nicole Beharie) father left them when they were young on Fox's "Sleepy Hollow." While the two sisters may believe their father, Ezra Mills (James McDaniel), is not a good person, it turns out that there's much more to the story than they think.
In an interview with TVLine, showrunner Clifton Campbell said since Ezra's been missing for most of their lives,, but they never got to hear his side of the story. The sisters may have a new way of looking at their father once he comes back into their world in Season 3.
"There was a picture painted of him early on that was the guy who ran off, who couldn’t deal, and who fled. It’s very nice to find that that’s not necessarily true, and the part of it that is true is much more realized in the back half [of the season]," Campbell dished.
Executive producer Albert Kim added that when Ezra shows up on the show, his past will have an impact on the story of Jenny and Abbie. Is it possible their father is in touch with the supernatural as well?
While fans can look forward to discovering the mystery of Ezra Mills, it's still unknown what Abbie's fate is. In the fall finale, Abbie was last seen walking through a portal underneath Pandora's (Shannyn Sossamon) tree to save Jenny. Ichabod Crane (Tom Mison) watched as his fellow witness went into another world ... or to her death.
Abbie and Ichabod have found themselves in a similar situation before. Abbie was once stuck in purgatory in Season 2, but Ichabod was able to rescue her. Can Ichabod once again go into another world to save the person who means the most to him?
"Sleepy Hollow" will be moving from Thursdays to Fridays when the show returns for Season 3 on Feb. 5 at 8 p.m. EST on Fox.
