Abbie Mills (Nicole Beharie) and Ichabod Crane (Tom Mison) have been separated into different worlds before on Fox's "Sleepy Hollow." When the second half of Season 3 picks up in February, Crane will have to find a way to reunite with Abbie after she walked to the portal under Pandora's (Shannyn Sossamon) tree believing it was the only way to save her sister, leaving viewers wondering if they would ever see her character again.

Showrunner Clifton Campbell told TVLine he wanted the fall finale to be an episode that "resonated" with viewers. He also wouldn't confirm or deny Abbie's fate, but said the two witnesses being apart will have an affect on the characters.

"Things change dramatically once you take one of the key components out of the dynamic between Crane and Abbie. A lot of questions and a lot of need and desire comes to the surface, and it comes together in a very nice way," Campbell said.

Campbell also revealed that Abbie's sister Jenny (Lyndie Greenwood) and Joe (Zach Appelman) will continue to get closer while Abbie is away. Pandora and The Hidden One (Peter Mensah) will need to come up with a new plan to destroy the world after Crane and Abbie were able to stop them, at least for the moment.

New villains will be making their way to the show, but it's unclear if Crane will be taking them on by himself. In December 2015, TVLine reported Crane would be dealing with an old foe at some point in the second season. This person is Dr. Japeth Leeds, who turned himself into the Jersey Devil while experimenting with the dark arts. Leeds was "Ben Franklin’s biggest competition when it came to alchemy."

Signs seem to point that Abbie will likely return at some point in the second half of the season. The show has cast James McDaniel to play the estranged father of Abbie and Jennie, according to TV Guide. Abbie's father was brought up throughout many episodes in the first half and now it appears as though the family will be reunited before Season 3 comes to an end.

"Sleepy Hollow" will be moving from Thursday nights to Fridays when the show returns Feb. 5 at 8 p.m. EST on Fox.
