Lambert-St. Louis International airport was damaged and closed on Friday evening after a storm brought a tornado to the area.

The tornado lifted the roof off a councourse and injured several people.

Crews reportedly worked through the night trying to clean up the damage. The airport is expected to reopen on Sunday and attain 70 percent capacity, officials said.

Concourse C of the airport's Terminal 1 had the most damage. The airlines operating from them, which include American Airlines and Frontier Airlines - will need to be moved to another location.

Reports say areas in the region, including some suburbs near the airport, were flattened
