Just a few minutes before Thanksgiving Day ended, Chyler Leigh took to Instagram to share how grateful she is to have her “Supergirl” co-star Melissa Benoist in her life.

“I am SO #thankful for this beautiful woman,” Leigh wrote on the social networking site, alongside a photo of her with Benoist on the set of the CW series. “She is my inspiration, my friend, my #soulsister @melissabenoist You are truly wonderful and I love you with all my ❤ #HappyThanksgiving.”

Leigh and Benoist — who play sisters Alex and Kara Danvers on the show — have grown extremely close with one another since filming for the series started, and their friendship has been of great help in establishing the relationship of their characters onscreen.

“I love Melissa with all of my heart,” Leigh told Emertainment Monthly at San Diego Comic-Con in July. “Even in … scenes where our characters are fighting a little bit, it’s hard. It really is hard because I do feel legitimately like she’s a sister.”

Benoist apparently feels the same way for Leigh. “She’s so easy to hang out with and we just click really well,” the “Glee” alum told Teen Vogue last year of her relationship with her TV sister. “She’s my favorite person to do scenes with. I’m not ashamed to say that, and I’m sorry to everyone else. [Laughs] I love working with Chyler and it really is this unbreakable bond already. We have to be that way in order for anyone to feel … [our] scenes.”

Even Kevin Smith couldn’t help but notice Leigh and Benoist’s closeness off-camera when he went to Vancouver last month to direct Season 2, episode 9 of “Supergirl.”

“Me-Me and Chy-Chy brought the major feels when we were rolling but between takes they’re both legit funny,” he wrote on Instagram three weeks ago. “It’s cool watching them go from goofing around before ‘Action’ is called to delivering dire dialogue about impending universal doom. Nice, nice kids.”

An all-new episode of “Supergirl” airs on Monday, Nov. 28 at 8 p.m. EST on the CW. Check out the synopsis for Season 2, episode 8, titled “Medusa,” below:

“Eliza (Helen Slater) comes to town to celebrate Thanksgiving with her daughters. Alex decides it’s time to come out to her mother; Kara is shocked when Eliza suggests Mon-El (Chris Wood) has feelings for her, and Winn and James consider telling Kara the truth about the Guardian. Meanwhile, CADMUS unleashes a virus that instantly kills any alien in the vicinity so Kara enlists an unexpected ally – Lena Luthor (Katie McGrath). Barry Allen (Grant Gustin) and Cisco Ramon (Carlos Valdes) seek Kara’s help with an alien invasion on their Earth.”
