Although Floriana Lima won’t be returning as a series regular in Season 3 of “Supergirl,” it appears that there won’t be any shortage of sweet moments between Lima’s Maggie Sawyer and Chyler Leigh’s Alex Danvers in the upcoming installment of the CW series.

As a matter of fact, Lima and Leigh were recently spotted filming a kissing scene for Season 3, episode 1. In a video uploaded by Twitter user @danversco, Maggie is seemingly explaining something to Alex before assuring her of her love by kissing her on the lips.

Alex asked Maggie to marry her at the end of the Season 2 finale, and although the police detective didn’t say yes at the time, recent photos taken from the “Supergirl” set suggest that the two are either already engaged or married in the show’s Season 3 premiere.

In the photos shared by HollywoodNorth.buzz on Twitter, Leigh and Lima are wearing matching rings on their left fingers, leading fans to speculate that their characters, dubbed by fans as Sanvers, might have reached a new milestone in their relationship.

In a statement sent to TVLine last May, executive producer Andrew Kreisberg revealed that Lima will only be returning as a recurring guest star for Season 3. “We adore Floriana and have loved working with her to tell this inspiring story [of Maggie and Alex’s romance],” Kreisberg said. “Although she’s not available to us as a series regular next season, as she’s looking to pursue other opportunities, we’re happy she’ll be returning for multiple episodes in Season 3.”

While it is unclear how Lima’s recurring status will ultimately affect the show’s Alex-Maggie storyline, Lima told People at the 28th GLAAD Media Awards ceremony in April that she’s “really humbled [and] very proud” of how significant Alex and Maggie’s relationship has become to viewers who are struggling with their sexuality.

In a tweet last May, Lima revealed that her role as Maggie was only meant for one season, so she’s excited to continue being part of “Supergirl” even as a recurring guest star in Season 3.

“Supergirl” Season 3 will premiere on Monday, Oct. 9 at 8 p.m. EST on The CW.
