CNN has been taken off the air in Thailand as military officials have taken control of the government Thursday, the NewsBreaker Twitter feed reported.

Martial law was instituted in Thailand on Tuesday, although the military insisted it was just restoring order and mot staging a coup, CNN reported. But that changed on Thursday as the top general declared a takeover of the government in a televised address.

Thailand’s military chief said the action was necessary because rival factions were unable to form a government.
