Tila Tequila Nearly Died From Possible Suicide Attempt, May Have Permanent Brain Damage

Tila Tequila was hospitalized after a mysterious health threat amidst reports that the reality star has been suicidal lately.

The exact cause of her hospitalization remains unclear. RadarOnline reports that Tequila accidentally overdosed on heavy prescription drugs last week after experiencing symptoms of an apparent brain aneurysm which caused her to think irrationally.

Tequila reportedly consumed two bottles of an unspecified prescription drug. Tila threw up all over her bed after overdosing and felt like she was dying. She was screaming for help, and in desperation, broke her bedroom window and attempted to jump out, a source told RadarOnline.

Finally a friend came over after getting a strange text from her and found her convulsing on the bed. He called an ambulance and she was taken to the hospital.

The wording of the RadarOnline report raises some questions about its accuracy. An individual with a brain aneurysm will not usually experience symptoms until the aneurysm ruptures -- but the RadarOnline report did not say anything about a rupture.

According to Brainaneurysm.com, the annual incidence of aneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhage [which results from a ruptured cerebral aneurysm] in the U.S. exceeds 30,000 people. Ten to 15 percent of these patients will die before reaching the hospital and over 50 percent will die within the first thirty days after rupture. Of those who survive, about half suffer some permanent neurological deficit.

The RadarOnline source said that Tequila still can't fully speak properly.

It's sad to think she may have some permanent brain damage, the source said.

According TMZ, Tequila's roommate told police the reality star had tried to kill herself all week.

Tequila was reportedly released from the hospital on Monday, but was visited again by police on Monday after her manager called for a wellness check. Tequila reportedly refused to open the door and called 911 to find out why authorities had come to her home. She then told the police that she couldn't come to the door because she was in a wheelchair, and the cops left the home without entering.

Tequila was dating -- and claimed to be engaged to -- Casey Johnson when the Johnson & Johnson heiress was found dead by a cleaning woman on Jan. 4, 2010. Johnson was a diabetic, and the cause of death was later determined to be diabetic ketoacidosis, which can result from improperly treated diabetes. At the time of her death, it was believed that Johnson -- who had struggled with substance abuse in the past -- had not been taking her insulin.

Tequila's Twitter and Facebook accounts do not indicate any obvious signs of suicidal thinking. Her most recent Facebook and Twitter posts were on Feb. 28, addressing her recent appearance in a television commercial. Yes that was me in the JACK & THE BOX commercial that aired at the Oscars! On Feb.14, she tweeted a message about an upcoming international tour. She is currently scheduled to perform in Canada on March 30.
