The U.S. Navy released video Saturday of the first airstrike on ISIS targets in Iraq. The attack, against a mobile artillery unit near Irbil, involved two F/A-18 Super Hornets that dropped 500-pound laser-guided bombs.

Video of the airstrikes released Saturday on YouTube by the U.S. Navy show the two F/A-18 Super Hornets destroying the mobile artillery pieces. The ISIS weapons were being used to attack Kurdish fighters defending Irbil in northern Iraq.

The airstrike was carried out at 6:45 a.m. EDT, the Defense Department said. The F/A-18s used in the airstrike were from the Carrier Air Wing 8 embarked on the USS George H.W. Bush, which operated in the Persian Gulf.

The strike was conducted some nine hours after President Barack Obama authorized airstrikes against ISIS targets and airdrops to aid Iraq’s Christian and Yazidi minorities stranded in the northern part of the country.
