Road trips are never just for fun on “The Vampire Diaries.” Bonnie (Kat Graham), Damon (Ian Somerhalder) and Alaric are heading to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, in Season 7, episode 3, but they aren’t going to relax on the sand. They’re looking for information. Damon and Bonnie track down a missing Heretic, Oscar (Tim Kang), and Alaric will learn more about the Phoenix Stone. However, the professor might not be able to keep his mission a secret for long once he realizes Oscar could give him more information.

“This Oscar meeting takes a violent, crazy turn,” Graham told TVLine. “A lot is happening in the beginning of the season as we go on these little missions. This one is all about the Phoenix Stone; we’re going to learn why it’s important, what it can do and how it’s connected to other things.”

Graham couldn’t spill too many spoilers about what they learn, but she revealed that she won’t be the only one that the Phoenix Stone affects. “Obviously there's a link between the visions and the Phoenix Stone,” Graham explained to TV Guide. “I can't say what happens with the Phoenix Stone, but it's definitely going to be very relevant in the upcoming episodes. So this is the initial introduction to what this stone is and learning about it and what it's going to do and the effect it's going to have on all the characters moving forward.”

Hopefully, Bonnie will learn that the stone is still a problem. In a sneak-peek video from episode 3, titled “Age of Innocence,” Alaric lies to Bonnie about destroying the magical stone. Watch the clip via E! Online below:

Alaric’s lie could ruin the trust between him and Bonnie. “I think that because they're so close if he's anything outside of honest, it's really going to affect their relationship,” Graham teased to TV Guide. “She's not very happy and Bonnie doesn't take that s---. But we'll see if he mans up.”

Bonnie might have more pressing issues to worry about before addressing Alaric’s lie. Damon wants to take Oscar hostage and make a deal with Lily (Annie Wersching) to get Elena’s body back. Yet Oscar might be a little cleverer than the first Heretic Damon and Bonnie killed. They’ll have to watch their backs to make sure they don’t become the ones who are taken hostage.

“The Vampire Diaries” Season 7, episode 3 airs Thursday at 8 p.m. EDT on the CW.
