Barcelona gave Real Zaragoz a good thumping on Saturday at Camp Nou, 4-0, with goals by four different players.

Gerard Pique got the route started in the 18th minute, with a header off the cross from Xavi's freekick.

Two minutes before halftime, scoring star Lionel Messi gave a right-footed shot that went past goalkeeper Roberto Gago. Real Zaragoza players pleaded for an off-sides flag, but the goal stood.

Carles Puyol extended the Catalans' lead in the 54th minute with a left-footed shot from close range following a set piece.

Striker David Villa finished off Real Zaragoza in the 75th minute with a header goal.

Real Zaragoza failed to muster much offense, and took only four shots, and none were on target. Barcelona took 27 shots, with 11 on goal.

The Catalans, with their patented passing style, controlled the ball for 68 percent of the match.

Real Zaragoza will host Sevilla next week, and are trying to hold off relegation.

Barcelona remian in a tight battle with arch rivals Real Madrid in La Liga. The Catalans face AC Milan on Wednesday in Champions League, and then travel to Getage for a La Liga match next week.

Meanwhile, it appears Eric Abidal, who has been inconsistent this season, might be on his way out after stalled contract negotiations with Barcelona.
