Real Madrid received a scare from Real Betis on Saturday, but still held off their aggressive opponents thanks to two goals from Cristiano Ronaldo in a 3-2 win at Estadio Manuel Ruiz de Lopera.

Jorge Molina got the scoring started with a 10th minute strike to give Real Betis the lead. Iker Casillas had no chance to block the right-footed blast.

But 15 minutes later, Gonzalo Higuain equalized for Los Galacticos. The Argentine striker gave a solid dribble from more the 30 yards, and then drilled home the right-footed shot from the right side.

The score would stay even until the 52nd minute when Ronaldo scored his first goal. Defender Marcelo miskicked a lob in the box, but Ronaldo was right there to pounce on the loose ball.

The lead was short lived, as Jefferson Montero evened the match just three minutes later due to careless defending by Real Madrid off a corner kick.

But it was Ronaldo to the rescue, as the Portuguese star netted the game winner in the 73rd minute following a corner kick. When goalkeeper Farbricio blocked a shot on target it went to Ronaldo, and he made easy work with the rebound.

Real Madrid took 20 shots, with 10 on goal, while Real Betis took 14 shots with six on target. Real Betis had a slim advantage in ball possession at 51 percent.

Real Madrid maintains their comfortable 13-point lead over Barcelona, who was idle on Saturday, in the league standings.
