April the giraffe gave birth to her calf Saturday, but Animal Adventure Park in upstate New York continued their live stream footage on YouTube Tuesday. Like usual, they issued their daily update on Facebook, except this time it was about April and her baby.

“We will be performing morning calf weigh-in around 8:45 a.m. EDT if you wish to watch! We will post the baby weight in the comments of this post after we have our results,” the zoo wrote. “April and calf look great from early morning observations!”

After rolling her ankle, April was doing well. “April's walk and stance are almost perfect again. Her leg twist was the equivalent or rolling your ankle slightly – ‘walk it off,’” Animal Adventure Park said. “Creating news stories out of such a minor thing is a *bit* of a stretch... but she is a celebrity so headlines sell.”

While the park normally shared a fun fact about giraffes at the end of their Facebook post, the zoo posted a quote from Jordan, one of the veterinarians, about the baby’s birth.

“What I found astonishing was the meaning and purpose behind every move April made during delivery. This was evident when calf's face and head emerged from her body, but baby was not yet delivered. April meticulously and gracefully cleaned out his mouth and nostrils to remove any mucus that could cause obstruction, all made possible by her long tongue,” Jordan said in his statement.” At that moment, my faith in ‘design by nature’ was completely reinforced.”

Within three hours, the post garnered nearly 90,000 reactions from the zoo’s 1.4 million Facebook followers.

A name for the calf has not been determined. Animal Adventure Park is holding a paid vote to pick the baby’s name.
