Another day brought another disappointment when it came to April, the pregnant giraffe from Animal Adventure Park in upstate New York. Since the live stream camera was set up in February, most people watching the footage daily expected the giraffe

The zoo took to their official Facebook page Thursday, which yields more than 1.1 million followers, to update everyone on April’s condition. Her behavior drastically changed.

“She is ‘out of it’ were keeper’s comments this morning; noting distracted behavior versus her normal inquisitive, treat begging, self,” the zoo wrote. “Significant bulging of the belly also noted.”

When she is ready to start active labor, April will have backend wetness. “Backend slightly damp but nothing to get excited about yet,” they wrote. “We are still observing light discharge on a daily basis.”

For the fun fact of the day, Animal Adventure Park shared some information about the way giraffes eat. “Giraffes have been described as browsers,” the zoo wrote. “Unlike grazing (grass-eating) herbivores, which consume relatively uniform feeds, wild giraffe choose their diet from an assortment of foods that are very different in nutritive content. In captive management programs, fresh browse, quality hay, and Mazuri Wild Herbivore pellet diet, hits all of the nutritional needs of Giraffes to ensure a comfortable and increased longevity.”

Since April has taken so long to give birth, some assumed her pregnancy might be a hoax. Animal Adventure Park slammed the naysayers. “For any hoaxers or #Fakenews stories questioning April and the pregnancy, [here is] a quick biology lesson: Animals do not develop milk unless supporting a pregnancy,” they wrote in a Wednesday post. “Furthermore, giraffes do not develop large udders like cattle etc, so to see this much development truly suggests calving in the near future.” The post ultimately garnered more than 32,000 reactions, hundreds of shares and thousands of comments.

April’s due date was not revealed by the zoo. She could give birth at any moment. Click here to watch the live stream footage.
