What is the ideal time to buy Apple products like the iPhone, iPad, iPod touch and Mac? While considering this question, many people tend to believe that Apple doesn't drop prices of its products except they are superseded.

However, if a recent research carried out by Dealnews is to be believed, the aforesaid consensus is not necessarily correct always. The research, in fact, has suggested after in-depth analysis of the market over the past 3 years that to find a good deal on the Mac, one should target the release date of the newest model.

As showed in the analysis, while the price of a particular product is significantly lower in the months or years post release, one can also save a notable amount of money by buying it a few days after the release.

As noted by a Redmond Pie report, the deals don't tend to come courtesy of Apple. They are usually made possible by the authorized resellers like Amazon, MacMall and MacConnection. Within two days of the release of the 15.4-inch MacBook Pro - released last October - one could already save $49 by shopping around, and by January, resellers were offering price reductions of up to $299, said the report.

The first and most important thing you can do to save money on new Apple products is not purchase them from Apple; otherwise, you'll never see significant deals. Rather, we recommend hitting the authorized resellers for discounts and promotions, Dealnews report said. As far as how long you should wait, that all depends on what product you're purchasing. That first deal could come as quickly as a few hours or as slow as a week.
