Fashion folk are not just stylish, they are technology-friendly. The 2012 Met Gala will be live streamed for the first time ever, courtesy of Vogue, Amazon.com/fashion and the Metropolitan Museum of Art.

The 2012 Met Gala live stream will be hosted by Vogue's William Norwich and model Elettra Wiedemann. The two will interview the Gala's co-chairwomen, Carey Mulligan, Miuccia Prada and Anna Wintour.

Also new this year is the opportunity to join in the conversation. The hosts of the live stream will ask celebrities on the red carpet five additional questions chosen from viewer submissions on Twitter (#MetQuestions). Join in on the Met Gala conversation by following the Met on Facebook and Twitter. Use #ImpossibleConversations and #MetGala hashtags on Twitter to submit your questions and you might get a chance to digitally interview your favorite celebrity.

The 2012 Met Gala is surely fashion's biggest night of the year. This year, some of fashion's best-known faces will be making appearances, including Gisele Bundchen, Coco Rocha, Derek Lam, Michael Kors and Kate Upton.

The theme of the 2012 Met Ball, otherwise known as the Oscars of the East Coast, is Schiaparelli and Prada: Impossible Conversations, inspired by Miguel Covarrubia's Impossible Interviews published in Vanity Fair in the 1930s.

Designer Elsa Shciaparelli was closely associated with the Surrealist movement, according to THR, and her most legendary designs included the tear dress, the lobster dress, the shoe hat and the insect necklace. Progressive, no doubt. Her designs from the late 1920s to the early 1950s will be displayed alongside Prada's designs from the late 1980s to the present.

Miuccia Prada took over the family's Milan-based fashion house in 1978 and developed the line's postmodernist flair, according to THR. The ball will explore the commonalities of these two innovators. Orchestrated conversations between these two women will play during the ball.

The Vogue-hosted event is chaired by Jeff Bezos, founder and CEO of Amazon, and co-chaired by Miuccia Prada, Carey Mulligan and Anna Wintour.
