As the candidates step up for the 2020 U.S. presidential race, the question as to whether Donald Trump would secure another four years in the White House continues to be a hot topic. According to Maxim Oreshkin, a Russian Economic Development Minister, it is probable that Trump will be elected for another term.

Russian News Agency TASS reported that Oreshkin revealed he believes Trump will be re-elected for a second term, but will then be followed by a far left-wing Democrat. Oreshkin made the prediction in front of a group of students during a Kommersant’s Academy of Journalism meeting on Monday.

"The likely political scenario in America is that Trump will be re-elected for a second term and later he will be replaced by a Democrat, who will be an extreme leftist,” Oreshkin said. “I see this as the most probable scenario. Otherwise, a left-wing Democrat could emerge now if America comes up against an economic crisis earlier than by the next election.”

Oreshkin’s revelation is based on the last 30 years of the U.S. seeing lack of wage increases, as well as high healthcare and education spending, and net inflation costs that have burdened Americas. He pointed to the stagnant wages of the middle class and lower middle class, calling the U.S. “not a society of equal opportunities anymore."

"America’s shattered stability is visible in its economic performance. The rate of labor productivity over the past 10-15 years has substantially slowed down because the quality of human resources, and social mobility has actually worsened. America has splintered into several various parts: New York, California, maybe Texas and several other major areas. And then there is the rest of America, which turned out to be flyover country cast aside by that strata of society,” he added.

While Oreshkin points out that there were new earnings were generated in the U.S. recently, he maintains that it was only concentrated on 20 companies and the 1 million people working at these companies.

He said, according to TASS, “It’s clear that that part of the population, who lost out in this process, is dissatisfied. They are told now that China and Mexico, which snapped up their jobs, are entirely to blame for this. However, Trump is addressing those problems, which truly concern the majority of citizens. That’s why even though he lost New York and California, the majority of voters cast their ballots for him.”
