A fresh render of the Xiaomi Mi 5 has surfaced. It shows the front panel of the handset with a physical Home button indicating that it will arrive with a fingerprint scanner. The handset is now speculated to get announce on Jan. 21.

According to Gizmo China, previous rumors had suggested that the Xiaomi Mi 5 will be coming with Qualcomm’s Ultrasonic fingerprint scanner. However, fresh information suggest that it will be housing a conventional fingerprint sensor.

The leaked render of Xiaomi Mi 5 suggests that it will be sporting a design similar to that of MI Note series. The Xiaomi Mi 5 will be first handset from the company to feature a physical Home button. The handset will be arriving with a metallic construction and is expected to feature a 5.2-inch display powered with pressure sensitive technology.

The display is likely to carry support for Quad HD resolution. It is going to be the first smartphone to arrive with Snapdragon 820 chipset. The chipset will be coupled by 3 GB of RAM for 32 GB native storage variant.

The 64 GB variant is going to be equipped with 4 GB of RAM. The rear camera of the handset will be of 21-megapixel and the front side will be fitted with an 8-megapixel camera. It will come preloaded with Android 6.0 Marshmallow that is overlaid with MIUI 7 proprietary software. It will be powered by 3,030 mAh battery.

Xiaomi is still silent on the Mi 5 release date. However, fresh speculations indicate that it will be announced on Jan. 21. Finally, the handset will be available for purchase in February 2016. As far as pricing of the handset is concerned, the 32 GB variant will cost around $311 whereas the 64 GB variant will be priced around $389.
