A vote for Kanye West in the 2020 election won’t lead to his actually being elected as President since he can’t possibly win enough electoral votes, but those who want to show their support for him on election day will still be able to do in a handful of states.

As it stands, West will only be on the ballot in a small handful of states, following recent defeats in Virginia and other states where his requests were denied. Virginia was the latest state to turn down his appeal, following others including Arizona, Illinois, Missouri and Ohio.

In total, he will appear on the ballot in 12 states. He had successfully gotten on the ballot in Arkansas, Colorado, Idaho, Louisiana, Minnesota, Oklahoma, Tennessee, Utah and Vermont, and recently was added in Iowa, Mississippi and Kentucky as well. In total, the max number of electoral votes he can win is just 84—well short of the 270 minimum amount that is needed to win the job.

The news of states rejecting West’s ballot is likely a sigh of relief for Democratic nominee Joe Biden, as many have feared the rapper’s campaign was an attempt to siphon off support from him to help make Donald Trump’s reelection easier. However, of the states where he appears on the ballot, Vermont is the only state that is considered to be a guaranteed Blue state, with just three electoral votes. Colorado is also considered to be a likely blue state, and Minnesota is considered to be a state which leans blue, taking an additional 19 votes. In total, the max he could potentially siphon from Biden is 21, which could be handily made back up if he won the swing state of Florida, which has 29 votes, or a mix of other toss-up states.

Meanwhile, West could potentially siphon up to 62 votes from Donald Trump, as Arkansas, Idaho, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, Oklahoma and Tennessee are generally guaranteed Red states, with Iowa and Utah also considered to be likely red ones.
