Villagers in the northern Indian state of Haryana were terrified after they saw a massive python swallowing a peacock near a forest. According to local media, the 15-foot-long reptile swallowed the prey whole in the Yamunanagar district.

Residents of Jhanda village in Sadhaura saw the peacock was caught by the python in the fields near the forest and was being dragged, a Forest Department official told the Press Trust of India. The villagers were so terrified by the sight that they called the local police for assistance.

By the time officials arrived, the python had swallowed the peacock completely and disappeared in the forest. It remains unclear if there is any threat to the villagers due to the python.

In April, an Indian Forest Service (IFS) officer shared a video of a python swallowing a whole deer. The two-minute video shows the snake slowly putting the whole deer in its mouth. Videos of snakes swallowing small animals like a rabbit or mice are fairly common, but the video of the python engulfing an entire deer caused a stir on social media.

Parveen Kaswan, who shared the video, wrote on Twitter: "Unbelievable!! This Burmese python was too hungry, so swallowed a whole deer. From Dudhwa sent by WildLense_India."

A Twitter user commented: "This reminded me of the scene in Anaconda, where the human face is clearly outlined through the stomach of the giant creature, scarred me for life." Another user asked: "Is it possible. Will he digest it ?? So scared to even see full video."
