Police in San Bernardino, California, rescued Saturday a 2-year-old girl who was abducted by her biological father from her mother's home, according to authorities.

Police said the child was taken by the suspect, identified as Raymond Ornelas, 30, after he brutally attacked his ex-partner, the child's mother, KTLA reported.

Officers with the San Bernardino Police Department initially responded to the woman's home for a report of a domestic disturbance.

Ornelas allegedly broke the window of his ex-girlfriend's bedroom and crawled into her home, an unnamed witness told police at the scene.

Upon finding his ex, he allegedly attacked the woman and hit her several times before dragging her across the house by her hair, the witness told authorities.

At some point, Ornelas allegedly pulled out a firearm and threatened to kill his ex, whose name was not disclosed in the report. He then grabbed their 2-year-old daughter and fled the scene.

After obtaining a search warrant, police tracked down Ornelas at an undisclosed location.

SWAT team officers recovered the girl from the residence and took Ornelas into custody.

Ornelas was booked into jail on multiple charges, including kidnapping, burglary, domestic violence and assault with a deadly weapon.

The girl was not injured in the incident. She was returned to her mother after being rescued, police said.

In related news, a 6-year-old girl recently managed to foil a kidnapping attempt while she was taking out the trash outside her family's home in Ohio.

In an interview with "Good Morning America," Ken'Adi Nash said she immediately started screaming when a man, identified as 33-year-old Deric McPherson, grabbed and pulled her.

"He just let go of me because I screamed," the child recalled during the interview.

The incident took less than 10 seconds overall and was captured by a doorbell camera at the child's family home, ABC News reported.

Police later arrested McPherson in connection with the incident. He was charged with abduction and inappropriate grabbing.
