$5 Movie Deals Are Back At AMC: How To Get Discounted Cinema Tickets

AMC Theatres (AMC) has brought back its $5 movie deal after more than two years of halting the program due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The cinema chain is offering the $5 movie ticket deal on Tuesdays, all day long, for any movie that a theatergoer wants to see. To get in on the $5 deal, movie fans need to join the AMC Stubs Insider loyalty program – a free rewards program offered by AMC.

The AMC Stubs Insider program also gives a free refill on every large popcorn purchase, and 20 points are earned for every $1 spent at AMC theaters. When an AMC Stubs Insider member earns 5,000 points, they will receive a $5 reward, which can be used for food and drinks at AMC theaters.

The $5 movie deal will run through October and also applies to movies in IMAX, Dolby Cinema, and PRIME, for the base fee ticket.

“Discount Tuesday at AMC was a favorite among moviegoers prior to the pandemic,” Eliot Hamlisch, executive vice president and chief marketing officer at AMC, said in a statement. “As millions of moviegoers are returning to AMC each week this summer, we want to ensure that there are a variety of opportunities to find great value while seeing movies only available on the big screen at AMC theatres around the country.”

Other deals offered by AMC on Tuesdays include a Cameo-sized popcorn and a choice of 21-ounce ICEE or Cameo-sized Coca-Cola Freestyle drink for $5.

AMC also offers its $5 Fan Fave movies all week long, updating its selection of shows regularly.

AMC has about 600 theaters in the U.S., 950 theaters worldwide, and 10,500 screens globally. It is the largest movie chain in the U.S. and the world.

AMC Theatres were temporarily closed at the beginning of the pandemic for several months as part of an effort to prevent the spread of the virus.

As of Wednesday at 10:55 a.m. ET, shares of AMC were trading at $12.29, down 49 cents, or 3.83%.
