A six-year-old was violently beaten by his father with a vacuum cleaner, sending the boy into a coma. His fault? Not doing his homework. The man, named only as Mehmet Ali Y, used the metal pipe of a vacuum cleaner to savagely attack the child.

The incident took place in the city of Iskenderun in southern Turkey's Hatay Province, the Daily Mail reported. Police arrested the man following the attack. The boy was taken to a hospital after paramedics arrived at the scene and found him unconscious.

The child was treated at the Iskenderun State Hospital in intensive care for severe injuries to his head and face. He remains in critical condition and is on life support, police said. An investigation is underway into the incident.

The boy's mother, named as Gulistan O, reportedly responded to the incident saying: "I came to the hospital as soon as I heard what happened... When I saw my son, he was covered with bruises. He was beaten with the metal wand of the vacuum cleaner because he hadn't done his homework."

"My son is about to die. He was beating me every day too. For this reason, we got divorced," she added.

The suspect's mother also said that she too was a victim of his abuse.

"My son used to beat me too every day. I filed a complaint against him but he threatened to kill me so I withdrew my complaint," Mehmet Ali Y's mother, named as Halide O., said.

In an incident in October last year, a Tennessee man faced child abuse charges after brutally beating his son. The father beat the child for bad behavior in school. A video of the incident showed the man aggressively hitting the 6-year-old and shoving him to the ground, and also kicking him.

In another incident in the U.K. in June last year, a 34-year-old Westchester County father was indicted for allegedly murdering his 2-year-old son. He was beaten and put to bed. The father told the child's mother, who was away during the incident, that the boy was sleeping. However, the mother later found out that her child had died. An autopsy done found the boy had suffered blunt force trauma to his body, prosecutors said at the time.
