A 9-year-old Ocala boy was charged with attempted first degree murder for stabbing his 5-year-old sister multiple times.

On Monday at 4:20 P.M., Ocala officers and medical officers responded to a call at Berkeley Pointe Apartments which reported a stabbing inside one of the apartments in the complex.

Ocala News reported that when the authorities arrived, they found the girl alert and able to communicate.

The victim was promptly airlifted to UF Health Shands Hospital to treat her injuries. The 9-year-old suspect was found shortly after, hiding in a maintenance shed on the property.

“The juvenile suspect is in custody and juvenile victim has been airlifted to a nearby hospital,” Ocala authorities stated in an ABC News report. “The scene is currently blocked off and secured as a Major Crimes Detectives continue to process and interview.”

Police report said that the boy admitted to stabbing his sister while their mother was away from the premises and that he allegedly said that the thought of wanting to kill his sister “entered his head two days earlier.”

The juvenile suspect said that he wanted to get the thought out of his head but he couldn’t so he grabbed a knife from the kitchen and hid it while entering his bedroom where he proceeded to grab his sister by the neck, stabbed her repeatedly while saying “Die, die.”

The boy ran and hid in the shed after his mother arrived and took the knife away from him. When asked why he stabbed her, he said that he “wanted to be able to go outside”.

The victim’s condition is currently unknown.

In a similar case of juvenile crime, Ocala officers responded to a call last week to a home in 3600 NE 21st Street where a child was accidentally shot by a juvenile sibling.

The victim was alert and alive when the officers arrived and was brought to an area hospital in stable condition.
