Adidas sent out a “Safety Notice” Wednesday, urging children within a certain age group to refrain from wearing Infinitex 3-Stripe swimwear.

“Adidas today announced a voluntary recall of kids’ swimwear products of the Infinitex 3-Stripe range. It is strongly recommended that children up to and including the age of 14 stop using recalled products immediately. Affected products can be returned to adidas or authorized dealers for a full refund,” the notice read.

Apparently, the footwear brand received multiple complaints from customers about the three stripes on the swimwear coming off when the apparel came in contact with water.

This posed a potential health hazard, as the stripes, after coming off, could get caught on objects or entangle other children, while inside or outside the water, leading to injuries.

“The safety of our consumers is our highest priority. We continue to be committed to quality and apologize for any inconvenience this safety notice may cause to consumers,” said Harald Habermann, Vice President Product Operations, Advanced Creation at Adidas.

Although no injuries have been reported till date, the sale of the affected product, regardless of the size, was immediately stopped in online as well as physical stores of the company, Albawaba reported.

The Infinitex 3-Stripe swimwear range was sold by Adidas as part of the 2017 and 2018 collections. Both youth and adult sizes were available in the range, globally in several different color combinations.

The words “made in Tunisia” were on the label of the affected products and the Adidas 3-stripes trademark was grafted on both sides of the swimwear units.

Adidas assured its customers the process of refund had been simplified for the benefit of their customers and to prevent any confusion.

“No proof of purchase (receipt) is necessary. Infinitex swimwear products in all other sizes that are not affected by the recall and have quality defects may be returned to adidas stores or authorized retail partners where the products were purchased for a refund,” the company said.
