Leo Fitz and Jemma Simmons have always had a difficult relationship on “Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.,” but the ABC TV show will make their romance even more complicated in Season 6 by having Simmons wake up the frozen version of Fitz after the present day Fitz died. That could present a fun opportunity, though.

“It’d be nice to get another wedding, wouldn’t it? Without having to be divorced,” Simmons actress Elizabeth Henstridge told Entertainment Weekly. “Get another dress, get [Chloe Bennet’s Daisy] a bridesmaids dress, Yo-Yo can come.”

On the bright side, Fitz (Iain De Caestecker) is still in love with Simmons. The genius went into cryostasis with the plan that he would propose to Simmons when they reunite. It’s likely that she would get a second proposal since that was the first thing Fitz did when they reunited originally. However, it might be difficult to coordinate another wedding. After all, the first one was a pretty last-minute affair.

The new Fitz also won’t have lived through one of the scientist’s darkest moments. In “Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” Season 5, Fitz channeled the alternate universe version of himself and took out Daisy’s power inhibitor against her will. It was a scary moment, but Henstridge said Simmons understands her husband’s motives.

“Well, she understood why he did that to Daisy and she understood the sacrifice that they were all having to make difficult decisions to try and change the time loop, so I think she’d get it,” the actress told CBR when asked if Simmons could reconcile the post-space version of Fitz with the pre-space version.

“I feel we’re all easy to forgive on this team. None of us is perfect,” she assured viewers.

Fans will have to wait and see how Simmons deals with her new version of Fitz. “Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” Season 6 is currently filming (with Coulson actor Clark Gregg directing the premiere), but it will not premiere in the fall. The series is being held until summer 2019, which is notable since that means it will return after “Avengers 4” hits theaters.
