  • Bayern Munich is running out of time to seal the deal with Alaba
  • Alaba can negotiate with other clubs by January 2020
  • Alaba camp remains at odds with Bayern's top brass

FC Bayern Munich has opted to withdraw from contract talks with David Alaba with the two sides failing to reach an agreement.

The deadline was set last Oct. 31, but the last offer made to the camp of the Austrian national remained unacceptable.

Though both sides failed to reach an agreement, all is not yet lost for Der FCB. The current contract of Alaba expires at the end of the season.

Bayern has until January to close a deal. Otherwise, the 28-year-old will be free to negotiate with other clubs.

“We presented him with a really, very good very fair, competitive offer - especially during these times,” Bayern president Herbert Hainer said to BR24Sport. “We told David’s agent during the last meeting that we wanted clarity and an answer by the end of October, because we want to plan for such an important position and personnel. But we didn’t hear anything.”

Unless Bayern can work something out with the Austrian footballer, Alaba is expected to be pursued by multiple clubs. One team that could try to lure the versatile player is Juventus.

This past October, unconfirmed reports claim that Juventus was in talks with the camp of Alaba according to Florian Plettenberg of Sport1.

Regardless, the fact that the Serie A champions had vested interest in the 28-year-old means that Bayern cannot let its guard down if they want to keep Alaba in the fold.

The relationship between the camp of Alaba and Bayern continues to be strained. This is about the public spat between his father George Alaba and club president Uli Hoeness.

The elder Alaba took exception to Hoeness's claim that his son was only interested in money, something he said was untrue.

Also linked to the mess was Alaba’s agent, Pini Zahavi who Hoeness called a “greedy piranha,” according to Goal.

Despite the grim outlook of seeing Alaba remaining at the Allianz Arena, Bayern manager Hansi Flick is still hoping that the Austrian national will remain with the club.

He remains confident that the issue will not affect Alaba’s performance with the team. The aforementioned player has made more than 400 appearances for Bayern after graduating from the club’s youth academy in 2010.
