Sony is gearing up to release the flagship Xperia Z5, the mini version Xperia Z5 Compact, and also the jumbo version Xperia Z5+ handsets toward the end of this year. Right after leaking the Xperia Z5 Compact’s promo image, the Sony Xperia Z5 has reportedly been photographed and uploaded online. The photographed device is apparently a dummy unit, which will ideally be similar in design to the original handset.

The recent leak reportedly originated from China and was later picked by the credible tipster Steve Hemmerstoffer of @OnLeaks and NWE fame. The bunch of photos pertaining to the Sony Xperia Z5 shows the handset enwrapped in a near-transparent protective case. Going by the leaked images, the upcoming handset is not different from the predecessors Xperia Z3+ and Xperia Z4, when it comes to overall design.

As far as the rumored Xperia Z5 specifications go, the device will reportedly come powered by an octa-core (Qualcomm Snapdragon 810) SoC, Phone Arena reported. The handset is also believed to be backed by either a 3 GB or 4 GB of RAM unit. Although the display size has not been revealed yet, the screen resolution will apparently be Quad HD (1,440 x 2,560 pixels).

When it comes to camera specification, the Xperia Z5 will likely sport a 21.5-megapixel rear-facing unit. On the other hand, the Sony Xperia Z5 release date has reportedly been set in the timeframe of Sept. 4 and Sept. 9 at the IFA 2015 event.

Meanwhile, readers can check out the entire set of leaked images from NWE. However, one of the images belonging to the super-thin Sony Xperia Z5, with the protective case on, has been shared on Twitter:
