The HTC One M8 Google Play Edition users are now receiving Android 6.0 update Reuters

HTC has started the roll out of Android 6.0 Marshmallow update for HTC One M8 Google Play Edition. Now that the Taiwanese company has begun with the release of Android 6.0, the HTC One M9 flagship of this year is likely to receive the latest Android build soon.

Mo Versi, the Vice President of Product Management with HTC had stated earlier this year that the Android 6.0 will be coming to HTC One M8 Google Play Edition (GPE) in October. However, the update was unavailable in the previous month. HTC has now finally released the update to HTC One M8 GPE users.

The HTC One M8 GPE is currently not supported by the manufacturer. Hence, it is surprising to see that the company has released the most recent Android build to an unsupported handset, Neurogadget reported. The HTC One M8 GPE is built to deliver pure Android experience devoid of HTC Sense UI. Hence, there is no Sense UI update available with Android M update for One M8 GPE users.

The size of the update is 450.4 MB. Hence, users are recommended to make enough space on the device to install the update as it likely to use huge storage space.

The next HTC handset that is likely to receive the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update soon is the HTC One M9. The update is also expected to bring along fix for Stagefright vulnerability, overheating problems, touch lag and update version of Sense UI.

Digital Trends has reported that the according to the 90-day Android update guarantee by HTC, the company is likely to release Android 6.0 update for handsets like HTC One M9, One M9+, One M8, One E8, One M8 Eye, Butterfly 3, Desire 826, Desire 820 and Desire 816. Currently, the only other device apart from HTC One M8 GPE that runs on Android M is the HTC One A9 that comes preinstalled with the Android 6.0 OS.
