After taking his time to plot and scheme in order to bring Smurf down, it looks like Baz’s plan might have actually worked. However, on “Animal Kingdom” Season 2, episode 12, his family may not be receptive to him becoming their new leader.

“With Smurf (Ellen Barkin) in jail, Baz (Scott Speedman) makes his move to run the family, but his brothers have other plans,” the synopsis for “You Will Be Gutted” teases. In the promo for the TNT drama, Lucy (Carolina Guerra) can be seen telling Baz that he is the only one in charge as Smurf is seen getting her mugshot taken.

Baz can later be seen saying, “Smurf has been stealing from us from years.” Although it is unclear who he is speaking to, it is likely that he’s having a discussion with his brothers about their mother’s current situation.

In the promo for “Animal Kingdom” Season 2, episode 12, Deran (Jake Weary) can be seen asking if Baz is sure she isn’t coming back tonight. It is likely that the she, he is referring to Smurf. In the video, the brothers can be seen having a party at Smurf’s house and considering they are no longer living her home and have been giving her the cold shoulder all season, it is unlikely that she would have allowed them to throw a party in her house.

In a sneak peek of “You Will Be Gutted,” Pope can be seen getting a gun hidden under the fireplace during the house party. He unplugs the stereo system and demands everyone to leave. As the party guest scatter in fear, Baz arrives to find Pope upset because he has been missing.

Baz tells Pope to go put the gun away but he won’t listen and demands to know where Smurf is. Baz reveals that she is in jail. Pope along with Craig (Ben Robson) and Deran can be seen looking shocked about the news. However, before anyone can utter a word about their mother’s imprisonment the clip ends.

Later on, J (Finn Cole) can be seen leaving what looks to be a jail as Nicky (Molly Gordon) can be heard telling someone, most likely J, that Smurf left a particular person in charge and everyone needs to listen to them.

Since getting the cold shoulder from her sons this season, Smurf has grown really close with her grandson, not only did she start to teach him the family business but she also took him to a storage unit that not even her sons know about.

Smurf had her suspicions about J after her storage unit was robbed but when she showed his and Baz’s picture to the employee, the man only recognized Baz, which allowed her to believe that she could trust J.

What she doesn’t know is that J actually helped Baz rob the storage unit, but the employee never saw him. When the robbery took place, J had his doubts and even asked Baz who they were robbing but Baz didn’t get into details.

Now it looks like Smurf may use J to get back at Baz and possibly bring him down. Will J be up for a solo job or will being a Cody prove to be too much pressure for him?
