Anne Hathaway has shared her thoughts about the challenges that come with pregnancy, noting that it's usually portrayed as something that's "all positive" when it is "so much more complicated than that."

The 39-year-old actress, who shares two sons — Jonathan Rosebanks, 6, and Jack, 2 — with husband Adam Shulman, recently sat for an interview with WSJ Magazine. During the conversation, she admitted that she "didn't feel fully landed and fully here until I was a mom."

"It's not like I was lacking integrity, but it made me want to be completely, on every level, true to my word," she told the outlet. "And that meant stopping any nonsense that I had going on inside myself. And it's little breaks that you give yourself sometimes when you know that you're not being your best self."

The "Princess Diaries" actress also shared her opinion on having more kids with Shulman. Though she can see them "going for another one," she also understands the challenges that come with pregnancy.

"There's this tendency to portray getting pregnant, having kids, in one light, as if it's all positive," she explained. "But I know from my own experience ... it's so much more complicated than that. And when you find out that your pain is shared by others ... you just think, I just feel that's helpful information to have, so I'm not isolated in my pain."

"I mean, what is there to be ashamed of? This is grief, and that's a part of life," she added.

Meanwhile, "The Intern" star hopes to keep her boys out of the limelight so they get to enjoy their childhood as much as they can.

"I would probably take the same tack that my parents did with me, which is: You have all the time in the world to be a professional actor; you can only be a child once," she shared.

"So I would encourage them to study, to go to classes, to read, but I would strongly discourage them from starting too young," she added. "I think that they'll be in a position where they'll be able to go to college and figure out where they want to go from there."

Hathaway tied the knot with Shulman in an intimate outdoor ceremony in Big Sur, California, in October 2012. The actress walked down the aisle wearing a custom-made Valentino bridal gown, as per British Vogue.

On the work front, Hathaway appears in "WeCrashed" alongside Jared Leto. Its first three episodes premiered on Apple TV+ on March 18. The following five episodes will be released every Friday through April 22, according to People.
