It is interesting to note that on Forbes’ list, only three made the top 20 from combat sports. Aside from the two boxing superstars, Connor McGregor from MMA made the cut at number 17. The top spot belongs to Roger Federer, followed by Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi.

The British professional boxer has a net worth of $80 million. In 2019, Joshua was defeated for the first time by heavyweight Andy Ruiz Jr. This took a toll on his credential and a possible mega fight with Wilder or Tyson Fury remained in doubt. Joshua and Ruiz had their rematch where the former successfully avenged the only loss of his career.

The Watford, Hertfordshire, England native has a professional record of 24 wins and 1 loss, with 21 victories by knockout. This shows his power and technique on top of the boxing ring. He has been a professional boxer since 2013, per Celebrity Net Worth. In his relatively young career, he has dispatched more established names and veterans such as Wladimir Klitschko, Dillian Whyte and Dominic Breazeale.

Aside from prize winnings, the 30-year-old heavyweight makes money via lucrative deals. He has represented various brands such as Under Armour, Jaguar Land Rover, Beats, Sky Sports and Hugo Boss. A separate Forbes report revealed that Joshua signed a massive deal with streaming service DAZN worth $1 billion for eight years. What makes him an ideal ambassador is his massive social media following. He has 17 million combined followers on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram.

If Joshua continues to dispatch opponents and remains healthy in his career, it won’t be surprising when he becomes the richest boxer ever after all is said and done. If he goes on to defeat Tyson Fury for the unification of belts, experts claim the fight could be one of the biggest ever in boxing history.

Fury’s camp and Joshua’s camp have reportedly agreed on a 2-fight deal in 2021. However, the date of the fight remains up in the air as major sporting events in the world are still being suspended due to the pandemic.
