  • "Apex Legends" may get a new map in Season 11 according to a dataminer
  • The datamined map’s name suggests that it will have a tropical theme
  • New Arenas maps may follow should the new map be confirmed

A brand new map may be coming to “Apex Legends” after a dataminer uncovered some files hinting that a tropical-themed battleground is currently in the works, potentially boosting the game’s battle royale map list to a total of four.

The name of the potential map file was found by dataminer Shrugtal, who proceeded to share the news on Twitter. According to the dataminer, the map file is named “mp_rr_tropics,” which suggests that “Apex Legends” could have a dedicated tropical map in the near future.

Shrugtal noted that this new map may be revealed in the weeks or months leading to the launch of Season 11, which is expected to arrive roughly three months from now. The dataminer noted that Respawn appears to release a new map every four seasons, with World’s Edge being released in Season 3 followed by Olympus in Season 7.

It’s likely that neither of the existing battle royale maps will get remade or receive any big updates in the next season, as most of the significant map changes were already made in the previous patches.

An outdoor tropical map can serve as a nice change of scenery for players who are tired of the same three maps in the current rotation. It would be interesting to see if dense foliage or deep water will appear in the new map, and if they’ll bring any major changes to how the game is normally played.

A new map is also bound to spawn at least one new map for the Arenas mode. Several existing locations from each of the three maps are present in the Arenas playlist along with a few bespoke maps set in other areas of the canon universe.

“Apex Legends” Season 10 is approaching the end of its first month and it’s likely that any Season 11-related content won’t be announced until the end of the year. Respawn is busy balancing out the game, especially with regard to the new legend Seer after fans complained about him being too strong.

Every season of “Apex Legends” lasts for roughly 12-13 weeks. Fans can expect more news regarding the potential new map by late October or early November.
