KEY POINTS

  • Apple Music Library can hold many files as many as the device's storage permits
  • The files can be deleted specifically or cleared in batches
  • The process is similar in different devices

Apple Music allows users to play and keep music files as much as the users want. However, deleting these files could be necessary in the future as too many music files can clog up the Apple phone or tablet’s storage and slow it down. Here’s how to delete the library in Apple Music on every Apple device.

Deleting Apple Music Library in iPhone and iPad

To get started, open up the Apple Music app and proceed to the library. Users can delete whole albums, playlists, and specific songs easily. Press down long on the specific album, song, and playlist for a few seconds and it’ll show up a pop-up menu. The “Delete From Library” option will now be available and pressing that will remove it from the library.

Deleting the Apple Music Library in iPhones and iPads is also possible too through swiping left on the “All Songs” button under the “Downloaded Music” menus. Press the Delete button found on the swiped left menu and the Apple device will flush all the Apple Music files currently in your library.

Deleting Apple Music Files in macOS

On the macOS Catalina, run the Apple Music app and proceed to the Library menus on the sidebar. Right clicking or pressing the three-dot icon near an album, song, or artist’s name pops open a menu. The “Delete From Library” option will now be available and will be prompted once again to double check on the files before completely deleting it off the system.

Clearing the whole library is also possible if the “Command + A” highlight all shortcut is pressed and the “Delete from Library” button is used.

Deleting Apple Music Library in Android phones

Deleting the Apple Music Library in Android devices is also as simple as it does in Apple phones. Open up the Apple Music app and proceed to the Library tab located on the menus at the bottom. Pick the songs, albums, playlists, and even artist playlists to be deleted from the phone. Hold down on the specifc song, album or playlist to make the delete button show up. Press the “Delete from Library” to remove the files off your Android phone.

Deleting Apple Music Files in Windows

Similar to the Mac, clearing out the Apple Music library in Windows functions the same. Boot up the iTunes app and proceed to the Library section in the top bar. Pick which songs, albums, and playlists are to be deleted and right click on them to reveal the “Delete from Library” button. Press the “Delete Songs” if all the planned songs to be deleted are selected and ready to leave them out.

Clearing all of the music files is also possible through pressing the “Windows + A” on the keyboard to select all files before right clicking it again for the delete feature.

Free Space Up

With the music files deleted, it’s guaranteed to provide more storage space for your phone again to get new songs or use the space for a different app or feature. If left unused, the device could function better as the free space is used for the device’s processing instead of holding data.
