The Cupertino-based tech juggernaut Apple is reportedly working on a new portable hybrid gaming console that is similar to the Nintendo Switch.

This piece of information came from the Korean community website Clien. According to the site, Apple is preparing a Switch-like gaming console with a new AP "being prepared with a new model name." This could be a new model since it is "not the Apple A or M series," the site added.

Clien also revealed that the said Apple hybrid portable console features an enhanced GPU performance, as well as ray-tracing support. Apparently, Apple has started mobilizing its plan since it is reportedly negotiating with Ubisoft, among famous developers.

Wccftech speculated that this rumored console might feature a capable cooler and other features that would make it stand out from other Apple products.

The tech site toyed with the possibility that Apple may be working on several prototypes. It pointed out that in the past, the company was rumored to have sent the Apple TV with A14X Bionic chip to developers for testing. It also cited insider MauriQHD's previous claim about Apple working on an ARM-based console, which is packed with an A-series chip.

The tech giant first introduced the Apple TV 4K, which was said to house the company's A10X Fusion chipset, in September 2017. A couple of years later, the Apple TV 4K with A12 Bionic chip was launched. However, many fans were disappointed with the device, especially those expecting that it would come with some beefy hardware and significant improvements.

Rumors about Apple planning a revamped, gaming-centered TV set-top box first emerged in 2020. In a previous report, Bloomberg's Mark Gurman pointed out that the product was dealing with "intense competition." He also said that while rivals were busy introducing several new items, there had only been some minor changes made to the Apple TV since 2015, like adding 4K output and years of mostly incremental yearly software updates.
