Apple might've removed the Apple Watch Series 4 in its listings since the arrival of the Series 5, but it doesn't mean the Series 4 wasn't a good smartwatch. That said, is the Series 4 still worth buying considering that the latest models are here?

The Apple Watch is truly a marvel among the many smartwatches available in the market today. The latest models have been considered as the best among many competitors, and have been recognized for their health-centric features which include AFib notifications, fall detection, and noise level monitoring.

The Series 5 models, which come in four different casing materials and a variety of watch bands, also boast of some features that aren't found in earlier models. These features include an always-on display and a built-in compass. Does this mean the Series 4 models should be ignored? On the contrary, no. Here are some reasons why the Series 4 is still worth buying:

It's still a powerful watch

The Series 4 is still a powerful smartwatch in many aspects. The Series 5 models might have some added features (as mentioned) and might come in ceramic or titanium, but both have some key similarities when it comes to core features such as the following:

  • Heart rate monitoring

The Apple Watch Series 4 also features the same excellent heart rate monitoring capabilities found on the Series 5. The older wearable also alerts users if their heart rate is higher or lower than normal, prompting them to seek medical help.

  • Fall detection

The Series 4 also has fall detection, a feature that alerts emergency services if the user takes a hard fall and is unable to get up for a time. Once set up, this feature will detect if the user falls hard, monitors their movement, and will contact emergency services if the user is unable to get up or doesn't respond to the Apple Watch's alerts.

  • It tells time and does more than that

The Series 4 models are also capable of doing many of the things the Series 5 models do, thanks to WatchOS 6. This means the Series 4 can also monitor noise levels, female menstrual cycles, and more. And yes, it tells time as well – while looking as good as can be.

It's cheaper

Aside from these, there's the fact that it's cheaper than the Series 5 models. Some Apple Watch Series 4 models can now be bought for as low as $299. The price and features make the Series 4 worth buying today.
