Ark: Survival Evolved v256 releases this month, and one of its most hyped features is a brand new UI design. Monday night, Studio Wildcard designer Jeremy Stieglitz revealed the fresh aesthetic and discussed it vaguely.

As seen in the teaser image below, the new Ark UI certainly carries a lot more visual appeal than its predecessor. The translucent blue look is far easier on the eyes than the previous stone-inspired one. You’re also seeing the menus rearranged in such a way that a larger portion of inventory can be accessed in less space on the screen. Tabs in the top right make the whole experience less text heavy.

In terms of confirmed features, Stieglitz said the v256 UI will have a “lot of new functionality” including “right-click context menus and better org for remote inventories.” Again, the consistent theme here seems to be doing more with less surface area.

However, because Ark is such a menu-focused game, this undertaking is going to require a bit more time than anticipated. While still releasing very soon, the update is set to go live March 30. It was previously set to publish sometime Tuesday. As with most Ark patches, it’s not out of the question for a delay to stretch beyond March 30 too.

In addition to an inventory overhaul, Ark PC v256 is also planned to introduce four new Dinos, aquatic breeding, Tek underwater base building and more Tek gear. The features might change slightly as we inch closer to publish time, but most of the mentioned content should be included.

Ark: Survival Evolved is available now on PC, Xbox One, PS4, OS X and Linux. Once the v256 update launches on PC, it will arrive on console in the coming weeks.
