Arrow Roy
Will Colton Haynes return as Arsenal in “Arrow” Season 6? The CW

“Arrow” will lose some characters in Season 6 after the deadly island explosion, but the show may also welcome back some familiar faces. Actor Colton Haynes told fans to expect Roy to drop by the CW drama soon.

On Saturday, a fan tweeted Haynes and the actor basically confirmed his return. “Roy’s coming back very soon,” the actor wrote.

However, fans may want to wait for announcements from The CW or the executive producers before celebrating. Haynes was also “confirmed” to return in Season 5.

“I get to come back on a few episodes of ‘Arrow’ next year,” the actor said in May 2016 at France’s Justice Squad Convention (via Screen Crush). Yet, Season 5 came and went without a visit from the archer in red.

Haynes’ schedule may have prevented the appearance. He has been pretty busy over the past year with roles in “Scream Queens,” “Rough Night” and “American Horror Story: Cult.”

He certainly has support from the show’s stars, though. Instagram proves that Haynes is close with Felicity actress Emily Bett Rickards, but Green Arrow actor Stephen Amell has also publicly supported Roy’s return. At July’s Heroes & Villains Fan Fest in Nashville, Tennessee, Amell had nothing but kind things to say about the actor.

“I miss Colton Haynes’ handsome face every single day,” the star said (via ComicBook). “If we end this show, whenever it happens to end, without seeing Roy Harper again, I think we will have made a tragic mistake.”

Roy had a pretty tumultuous time when he was on “Arrow.” He grew up in the Glades and was a petty thief when he was addicted to the drug Vertigo. He quickly overcame his addiction, however, and started to follow in the Green Arrow’s footsteps.

He was injected with Mirakuru, which gave him super strength, but that also made him a target for villains. Slade Wilson (Manu Bennett), also known as Deathstroke, captured him and used him for blood transfusions. After being saved from Deathstroke, the Mirakuru made Roy go mad. He went on a rampage trying to kill his girlfriend Thea (Willa Holland), even killing a police officer along the way.

After getting a cure for Mirakuru, Roy officially joined Team Arrow as Arsenal. But before long, he sacrificed himself, posing as the Green Arrow when the police were after Oliver. He was arrested, but he faked his death to escape prison. It forced him to ditch town, leaving the vigilantes and his love Thea behind.

So what will bring him back to Star City? Well, Deathstroke is set to have a pretty big arc in “Arrow” Season 5, so Roy might have a bone to pick with him. However, it could also be a tragedy that brings him home. Thea’s life is currently in danger. She was on the island during the explosions, and it isn’t clear if she will survive.

While it seems like Haynes might reprise his “Arrow” role, he’s actually in the midst of reprising another role from early in his career. As previously reported, he has returned to play Jackson in the final episodes of “Teen Wolf.” The werewolf has come home to Beacon Hills after living in London for a while, and he’ll discover that the hunters are out in full force. Jackson returns in Sunday’s episode on MTV at 8 p.m. EDT.

“Arrow” Season 6 premieres Thursday, Oct. 12 at 9 p.m. EDT on The CW.
