KEY POINTS

  • Aung La N Sang will make a quick turnaround at ONE Fight Night 10
  • He is coming off a sensational KO win last January
  • "The Burmese Python" really wanted to be part of the promotion's U.S. debut

The bout lineup for ONE Championship's highly-anticipated United States debut on May 5th—numbered as ONE Fight Night 10—is starting to take shape.

Fans have even more to look forward to, with the inclusion of a proven crowd-pleaser in the form of Aung La N Sang.

Aung La N Sang is slated to lock horns with Chinese sensation Fan Rong in a must-see middleweight duel on the undercard of the aforementioned live event.

Both men were supposed to meet each other inside the Circle at ONE Fight Night 6 this past January, but Fan had to withdraw from the match due to an undisclosed reason and was replaced by Gilberto Galvao.

Aung La N Sang was at one point the most dominant athlete on the promotion's roster.

From 2017 to 2019, "The Burmese Python" was at the top of the food chain as the outfit's simultaneous middleweight and light heavyweight champion.

During that stretch, Myanmar's sports icon defeated the likes of Vitaly Bigdash, Alexandre Machado, Ken Hasegawa and Brandon Vera.

His reign in both weight classes would come to an unfortunate end at the hands of Reinier de Ridder.

Since then, Myanmar's mixed martial arts icon has won three of his last four outings, including a vintage performance at the expense of UFC veteran Yushin Okami at ONE 163 back in November.

He followed it up with a quick demolition of Galvao last month, which earned him a $50,000 bonus from company head honcho Chatri Sityodtong.

In his post-fight interview, Aung La N Sang expressed that he would be more than willing to suit up for ONE Fight Night 10.

The organization acceded to that request, a move that makes a ton of sense due to Aung La N Sang's fan-friendly fighting style and star power in Asia.

More of it was discussed in a recent article published on the International Business Times.

In the other corner, Fan hopes to get back on track against one of the biggest names in the division.

Following a first-round submission to de Ridder in his January 2019 promotional debut, Fan notched back-to-back victories over Sherif Mohamed and Yuri Simoes.

Fan's momentum would be derailed once more after being choked out by Aung La N Sang's old rival and former champion Vitaly Bigdash in December 2021.

Now after over a year out of action, Fan returns to the cage and faces the toughest test of his prizefighting career.

ONE Fight Night 10 is set to take place at the 1stBank Center in Broomfield, Colorado. It will be headlined by a ONE flyweight championship trilogy bout between reigning kingpin Demetrious Johnson and arch-nemesis Adriano Moraes.

Also confirmed to take part in the extravaganza are Sage Northcutt and Stamp Fairtex.

Northcutt is booked to go one-on-one with Ahmed Mujtaba in a three-round lightweight encounter, while Stamp is slated to take on hometown heroine Alyse Anderson in a women's atomweight joust.
