A former live-in babysitter was charged Tuesday with multiple counts of sexual abuse for inappropriately touching a girl under his care for months. The incident took place at Salt Lake City, Utah, in 2014.

The accused, identified as 28-year-old Benjamin Michael Manning from Worchester, Massachusetts, was working as a live-in babysitter for a family with two young children in Salt Lake City. The incident came to light when the girl, who was under 8 years old at the time, informed her mother that Manning used to touch her inappropriately.

According to the charges filed, Manning had been sexually abusing the girl for about three months. However, when the child was asked about the assault during an interview by the police in 2014, she did not reveal the details and told them she did not want to talk about what happened.

However, she opened up to authorities about a year ago and informed them about what had happened.

On Tuesday, Manning was charged with a first-degree felony, and eight counts of aggravated sexual abuse of a child. He was issued a warrant of $500,000.

In a similar incident that took place in November, a former male nanny from California, identified as 35-year-old Travis Elconin, was arrested and charged for producing child pornography. The man had used his iPhone 8 to film sexually explicit videos of children who were under his care. He was sentenced to 30 years in prison for creating child pornographic content and will be under supervised release for the rest of his life.
