Dylan (Max Thieriot) receives devastating news in next week’s Season 5, episode 6 of “Bates Motel.”

According to the synopsis for the episode, Dylan finally learns about Norma’s (Vera Farmiga) death, and he struggles with the fact that it took him almost two years before he finally found out about what happened to his mom.

In the preview clip for the episode, Dylan calls his half-brother Norman (Freddie Highmore) and confronts him about keeping Norma’s death from him.

“Why didn’t you tell me that mom died?” a furious Dylan tells a teary-eyed Norman over the phone. “She was my mother, too. None of this makes any sense!”

Next week’s episode also concludes the story arc of Marion Crane (Rihanna), who arrived in Bates Motel at the very end of last episode. In Alfred Hitchcock’s 1960 film “Psycho,” which inspired the A&E series, Marion (Janet Leigh) is killed by Norman (Anthony Perkins) while she’s taking a shower. So is Rihanna’s version of the character going to meet the same fate in episode 6?

While Marion’s murder scene became one of the most infamous moments in the movie, “Bates Motel” executive producer Kerry Ehrin teased that it might not happen on the TV series at all. “Is there a shower scene?” Ehrin mused to Entertainment Weekly. “All I can tell you is that we pulled ‘Psycho’ into ‘Bates Motel,’ not vice-versa. That was always the goal and the fun of it. You will have to watch and find out!”

Unlike the last episode, TVLine reported that viewers will see more of Mother (Vera Farmiga) in episode 6. In fact, the news outlet revealed that Farmiga and Highmore share one of their most exhilarating and intense scenes on the series in next week’s episode, which pays homage to and tweaks Hitchcock’s “Psycho.”

Also in the upcoming episode, Sam (Austin Nichols) and Madeleine (Isabelle McNally) are at a crossroad in their marriage after the latter finally confronted him about his mistress.

“Bates Motel” Season 5, episode 6, titled “Marion,” airs on Monday, March 27 at 10 p.m. EST on A&E.
