The much anticipated Battlefield 3 beta multiplayer component has gone live for all PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC users today.

With no registration requirements all it takes is one download to enter the Operation Metro where players devise a defense strategy to protect their teams from the enemy who threatens to blow up military communication stations until their time is out.

The beta version includes one single map with four fully unlocked areas that allows up to 32 players to join a match. Techspot urges players to download latest drivers AMD or Nvidia video card, which are specifically optimized for the game.

There are also passwords circulating the internet for players to unlock the second map called Caspian Border. I've seen the replies on the forums and I think you guys deserve the Caspian Border experience, a Community Manager for DICE wrote on the official form. The password for the servers is sexyelevator-and the password will be changed at 18:00 CET.

Once the password is changed Tech bloggers on Ars Technica have urged players to keep their eyes peeled on Twitter and other forums for the password although they warn that with so few servers running it will difficult to play through the demand.

In my short time on the server I saw jets taking off, tanks zipping around the battlefield, and a plane crash happens at my feet. Operation Metro is a great map, but dodging bullets, looking up, and seeing jets duking it out above your head is something else entirely, said Ars Technica blogger Ben Kuchera
