KEY POINTS

  • "Battlefield 4" still has highly-populated servers in 2021
  • Always look for ways to help out the team
  • Avoid rushing toward the enemy, and approach each scenario carefully

The sudden revival of “Battlefield 4” has caused the game to experience a large influx of both new and returning players. Servers across all regions have seen increased activity, with new players contributing to a fair chunk of the game’s current population.

Those who have never played “Battlefield 4” before may have some trouble adjusting to the game. The large, open maps and the nuances of the iconic Conquest mode may leave players scratching their heads with confusion, while others may find themselves baffled at how one enemy somehow managed to get over 100 kills in one match.

The “Battlefield” series in its entirety is easy to pick up but difficult to master. With that said, here are some tips to help new players start on the right foot in “Battlefield 4” while also preparing them for the eventual release of “Battlefield 2042.”

Don’t be intimidated

A good mindset is the single most important thing to have when entering a “Battlefield” match for the first time. Don’t be intimidated by the max level players who are going on long killstreaks, and don’t lose heart if the team is getting absolutely destroyed. These are completely normal occurrences.

Instead, try to focus on personal gameplay while also helping the team out as much as possible. New players will lose their first few matches, and that’s completely fine. After all, experience is the best teacher.

Always spot enemies

Players can spot enemies by looking at them, and pressing the corresponding button (Q is the default keybind for PC). This will mark the spotted enemy on the minimap for the entire team to see while giving players extra points if said enemy gets taken down.

Know and play each role

Each class in the game can fulfill multiple roles on the battlefield. For example, the Assault class can serve as a frontline anti-infantry unit or a medic that helps keep the team alive. Meanwhile, the Recon soldier can be a long-range sniper or a sneaky commando.

Simply running and gunning will not be enough to win games. Players must know how to use all of the classes and support the entire team accordingly.

Be patient

“Battlefield” rewards players who take their time. Instead of blindly rushing into kill zones, take things slowly and approach situations with purpose. Avoid challenging players in face-to-face gun duels when possible and try outflanking enemies to get as many kills as possible.
