Amid all the "Battlefield 6" rumors and leaks, Electronic Arts (EA) finally released some details about the highly anticipated game over the weekend.

During the company's third-quarter earnings call on Tuesday, EA CEO Andrew Wilson said that the next "Battlefieled" experience "will mark a return to all out [sic] military warfare." He also mentioned that the game "takes full advantage of the power of next generation [sic] platforms to bring massive immersive battles to life with more players than ever before." These remarks confirm that "Battlefield 6" will be launched on PS5, Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S.

The executive also shared that the next "Battlefield" game, which will feature maps with unprecedented scale, is going to adopt all the destruction, player agency, vehicle and weapon combat the franchise is famous for and take it to a whole new level.

Last year, industry insider Tom Henderson mentioned that the multiplayer maps of "Battlefield 6" were designed to support increased player counts. The insider noted that the upcoming game's maps "have been designed with 128+ players in mind."

As for the game's release, Wilson said that they would release the game in the spring and deliver a defining "Battlefield" experience for their players to enjoy during the holidays of 2021.

And it appears that it is really coming this year, as confirmed by EA CFO Blake Jorgensen. DICE, the gaming studio behind "Battlefield 6," is "way ahead of where we were in prior product cycles," the CFO said about the game's development.

During the Q&A portion of the earnings call, an analyst inquired whether EA has any plans of using free-to-play modes in "Battlefield 6." While Wilson explained that he has nothing more to share about the game, he said that it's going to be the start of a new generation for "Battlefield" games and fans who are taking advantage of next-gen platforms' full power.

"And you should imagine that we're looking across all forms of the experience to ensure that this is exactly the game that Battlefield fans want to play and the game that we believe will drive growth in the Battlefield franchise," he added.

While it is now confirmed that the next "Battlefield" title is coming to next-generation gaming consoles, EA has not yet confirmed if the game will also be playable on Xbox One and PlayStation 4.
