EA has released a new trailer for the battle royale mode of “Battlefield V,” which is officially called Firestorm. The video game publisher has also revealed more details about the upcoming mode.

The trailer that EA released the other day confirmed that the Firestorm battle royale mode in “Battlefield V” will feature a maximum of 64 players that are split up into teams of four. This makes the battle royale mode different from the likes of “Fortnite” and “PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds,” which allow up to a hundred players. EA is pushing for the battle royale mode to rely heavily on squad-based gameplay.

“Developed by Criterion Games in partnership with DICE, Firestorm elevates battle royale by bringing in the best of what ‘Battlefield’ is known for,” EA said in a blog post. “Mix a shrinking playing field with trademark ‘Battlefield’ elements such as team play, powerful vehicles, and destruction, and you get battle royale so intense it’ll make your lips curl.”

Firestorm will feature the largest “Battlefield” map ever, which will have loot scattered throughout. The map will also be encircled with fire, which will push itself in as the game progresses. Players of Firestorm must also secure objectives and control key areas on the map to gain advantages over enemy troops. EA says that Objectives in Firestorm will be similar to Conquest mode, but some will be found fixed on locations and some at random.

“Battlefield V” Firestorm mode will also have destructible environments allowing players to shape the map. There is also a new building tool that will let players dig foxholes, build cover and create new routes. The idea behind this is that players can shape and reshape the environments to take an advantage over their opponents. Firestorm battle royale also lets players command their vehicles, like tanks, that can plow down entire buildings.

“In Firestorm, combat vehicles like the powerful Panzer tank have now entered the battle royale fray. Getting hold off a tank can give you a great edge, but you won't be invincible – and you need to measure risk versus reward if you challenge other squads to secure the battlefield's most fearsome hardware,” EA explained. “Jumping into a transport vehicle will give your squad an edge in speed and power. If you find something with wheels, you can drive it into battle – or plot a quick escape.”

In addition to sharing more information on Firestorm battle royale, EA also revealed a pre-order bonus for “Battlefield V.” Those who have already pre-ordered the game will be receiving the Firestorm Ranger Set, which will include goggles, light battle fatigues, and the MKIII(S) Elite Combat Dagger, according to GameSpot.

“Battlefield V” is scheduled to be released on the PS4, Xbox One and PC on Nov. 20. The upcoming World War 2 first-person shooter was originally set for release on Oct. 19, but it was delayed to a November release date as further refinement to the game was needed.
