Ukraine's forces hit a Russian command post located in the hotel. In an update, authorities said 100 Russian soldiers were killed in the attack, and the death toll might rise as several others were injured.

The country’s defense minister also said in a televised comment that Ukrainian forces have destroyed 50 Russian ammunition depots using HIMARS rocket systems.

“This cuts their [Russia] logistical chains and takes away their ability to conduct active fighting and cover our armed forces with heavy shelling,” Oleksiy Reznikov said, according to Al Jazeera.

However, International Business Times could not independently verify the extent of damage from strikes and the claims made by Ukraine about the death toll.
