Garrett Yrigoyen won Becca Kufrin’s heart and hand on Monday’s season finale of “The Bachelorette” Season 14, but he may have not been honest with her about his previous marriage.

During an earlier Season 14 episode, Garrett opened up to Becca about his failed marriage, calling it “emotionally abusive” and claiming he fell in love with and got married to the “wrong person.” Now, a report is claiming the long-speculated ABC competition show winner may have been untruthful about his prior union.

Speaking to Life & Style, a source close to his ex-wife Kayla Cunningham denied she was ever abusive. “In no way was Kayla abusive. I was shocked he would say that!” the source said before going on to blame the “really immature” Garrett for why his 6-month marriage really ended.

According to the source, Cunningham was known for being “a little bossy” but not abusive, saying, “... Garrett was like a kid who needed to be pushed to do stuff - like get a job!”

During his date with Becca on the show, Garrett also accused his ex of making it hard for him to spend time with his family and friends. This, the source claims, is also untrue. “She used to go with him to see his family all the time,” said the insider. “Maybe Garrett has grown up, but a part of me still wonders if he’s in it for the right reasons.”

While Garrett has never mentioned Kayla by name on the show, a video of their nuptials, published on YouTube in March 2016, is still available. In his vows, Garrett mentions reality TV and Kayla praises him for being a “positive influence.” You can watch the video here.

“The Bachelorette” Season 14 finale aired Monday on ABC.
