Ben Affleck is a big New England Patriots fan, and it is normal for any dad to want their son to follow in their footsteps and share their interests. But his ex-wife Jennifer Garner apparently thought he had gone a step too far when he tried to use an extreme method to make their son a Patriots fan.

During his interview on "Jimmy Kimmel Live," Affleck, 46, revealed that his and Garner's 6-year-old son, Samuel, declared that he wants to root for his hometown of Los Angeles instead of Boston. The Batman actor apparently went into full "existential crisis" over his son's choice of football teams, to the point that he employed drastic tactics to change his mind.

To change his son's mind, Affleck said he decided to redecorate his son's bedroom with Patriots paraphernalia, which the actor now admits was a "disaster." He also shared Garner's reaction to this actions, saying that his ex called him "creepy."

"Once my son started telling me, 'I'm from LA,' I know some guys, a lot of guys from Boston who do work in the trades to do a little work on my son's room to help him really understand where he comes from - if not literally then at least spiritually," Affleck told Kimmel.

Affleck also brought a photo of what his son's room actually looked like after he redecorated it, and he apparently installed a "gigantic football dissected by a slide" in Samuel's bedroom. He also showed off a chair which had Patriots quarterback Tom Brady's face on it.

"So what you did was once your son indicated that he may be interested in the teams that he grew up around, you decided to just attack him with interior decorating," Kimmel summarized of Affleck's story.

It seems Samuel has no hard feelings about his dad redecorating his room with gear from his favorite NFL team as the father and son were spotted together after his interview. In photos released by Daily Mail, Affleck held his son's hand as they headed to their car. Meanwhile, adorable little Samuel decided to give onlookers a smile and wave.

Affleck also brought along Samuel's older sisters, 13-year-old Violet and 10-year-old Seraphina for the outing.

Affleck and Garner announced their separation in 2015 after 10 years of marriage. They finalized their divorce in October last year.
